Objective:

At the end of the talk, students will be able to:
1. Understand the formation of bullying in terms of social network aspect;
2. Know how to become less indifferent to the victims; and
3. Understand how to deal with bullying, if they are the victims.

Description:

Bullying is common at schools. The speaker will share with you the formation of bullying which is not only consisted of bullies and victims. In addition, he will provide you the new insights of how to deal with bullying proactively so to maintain a healthy university or campus life as the indifference of people also enhances the occurrence of bullying.

Description:

Description:

Stress may not come from just course work deadlines, mid-terms or exams but it could also arisen from the lack of a healthy social life and friendship when social distancing is an issue. Stories behind the Lines: A Taste of Chinese Calligraphy  (NEW)

Objective:

At the end of the talk, students will be able to:
1. Learn some basic knowledge of Chinese calligraphy;
2. Know how Chinese calligraphy evolves in the contemporary art scene in Hong Kong; and
3. Develop their sense of appreciation in art, and life in general.

Description:

This talk explores the beauty of lines in Chinese calligraphy, as well as some of the values that cultivated the ancient literati's temperament. Some of the masterpieces in the field of Chinese calligraphy will be discussed, including "Preface to the Orchid Pavilion Gathering" (蘭亭序) by Wang Xizhi 王羲之 and "The Cold Food Observance" (寒食帖) by Su Shi 蘇軾. It extends the discussion to the contemporary art scene in Hong Kong, for examples the practices of Chui Pui Chee 徐沛之 who put pop lyrics into his calligraphy pieces.

Timor-Leste, one of the world’s young and poor countries with over 40% of the population lives below the international poverty line. It is the country’s challenge to increase productivity and faster economic development and at the same time to preserve the natural environment and resources. The Hummingfish Foundation, a Hong Kong based environmental protection N G O, has been working with the farmers in Tim or-Leste on coffee production – the only significant export crop of the country, since 2012. In this talk, the speaker will share a journey of how coffee farmers from a remote mountainous area develop sustainable coffee and create an international market; and also discuss responsible consumption and production, one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015.

1. Understand the importance of saving and investing at an early age, because of the principle of compounding;
2. Understand the reciprocal relationship between debt and savings; and
3. Understand the basic types of investment vehicles available and the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Description:
This programme is premised on the fact that investing is a lifetime project, and the time to start is early adulthood. This will be a very practical talk and Q&A session, led by the Warden of Hall H, who has saved and invested throughout the dot-com bubble and crash (1997-2001), the US housing bubble, the financial crisis/ “Great Recession” of 2007-09, and the volatility around Brexit (among other episodes), and has lived to tell about it.
