Objectives:
At the end of the talk, students will be able to:
 1. Acquire the fundamental concepts of Chinese calligraphy;
 2. Learn about one of the aesthetic traditions in Chinese arts; and
 3. Learn about Chinese culture.

Description:
Combining visual art and language, Chinese calligraphy is one of the oldest Chinese aesthetic forms. In this talk, our invited speaker will introduce the fundamental concepts of Chinese calligraphy and talk about how literati express themselves in this art form.

Hong Kong Cinema Series

From Rouge to Beyond the Dream——Hong Kong Cinema, Past and Present (NEW)

Objectives:                                                                                                   
At the end of the talk, students will be able to:

1. Understand how Hong Kong Cinema develop from the 1980s to the present;
2. Examine the transformation of Hong Kong Cinema with respect to history, genre, and sociopolitical background; and
3. Analyse the trend of Hong Kong Cinema in the dominant logic of Hong Kong-China co-production.                                                                                                      

Description
Rouge and Beyond the Dream are two classics in respective eras of Hong Kong Cinema. In the 1980s, the genre films of Hong Kong, no matter ghost tale or gangster, enrich the unique local style and taste of Hong Kong Cinema. However, with the launch of CEPA in 2004 together with the continuous social and political struggle, Hong Kong Cinema has big changes. Beyond the Dream coming during the critical 2019 and 2020 invites positive review of Hong Kong film. Nevertheless, it is the past that strengthen the present success for the highlight of local uniqueness. This talk will share with students about the importance and changes of Hong Kong film from the past, and see how the present may evolve continuously in the near future.

This Contemporary Dance Workshop takes place through the outreach tour to local universities and community. Objectives:
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
1. Enrich cultural life of the Lingnan community through choral singing;
2. Introduce the healthy use of voice; and
3. Guide students through completing appreciable recordings to share positive values through music. 

Description:
Joining rehearsals with the Choral Ensemble under the directorship of its conductor, all are welcome to sing together, learning, polishing and rehearsing at least 2 choral contrasting pieces, and finally put up a professional recording session, producing recordings for participants to share with families and friends and inject positive energy into our community.
