Lingnan University and the University of Oxford co-host International Postgraduate Summer School
The International Postgraduate Summer School attracted the participation of postgraduate students and faculty members from different universities in Hong Kong and the region.
At the International Postgraduate Summer School held on 25 June 2018 at Lingnan University, Prof Joshua Mok Ka-ho, Vice President of Lingnan University signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Prof. Catherine Montgomery, Academic Director of International Partnerships at the University of Bath, to deepen the collaboration between the two universities, especially in promoting postgraduate student exchange and collaboration in co-teaching and co-developing the Doctor of Policy Studies. Students enrolling in this programme can enhance their learning experience through studying at the University of Bath, one of the Top 5 universities in the UK.
The International Postgraduate Summer School co-hosted by Lingnan University and the University of Oxford commenced today (25 June) at Lingnan University. The Summer School, with a duration of three weeks, aims to provide a platform for scholars and research postgraduate students to present their major research findings, share research practices and reflect upon essential methodological issues.
The first week of the Summer School is held at Lingnan University followed by a two-week programme at Hertford College, University of Oxford. The International Summer School has attracted the participation of students and faculty members from different universities in Hong Kong and the region.
In collaboration with leading institutions in Asia and the UK, the Summer School offers the opportunity for students across different parts of the globe to establish their own research clusters with sharing interests and learning from world-renowned scholars to enrich their research experiences. Other co-organisers of the International Summer School include National Chung Cheng University, Peking University, South China University of Technology, Tsinghua University and Zhejiang University.
In his welcoming remarks, Prof Joshua Mok Ka-ho, Vice-President and Lam Man Tsan Chair Professor of Comparative Policy of Lingnan University pointed out the importance of enhancing postgraduate students’ learning experience through international visit to leading universities like Oxford University and engaging in academic exchanges with scholars and fellow students from leading institutions in the region.
Prof Catherine Montgomery, Professor of International Higher Education in the Department of Education at the University of Bath delivered a presentation on “Internationalisation in Higher Education: Reflection on Research Methodological Issues”. Prof Joshua Mok Ka-ho then shared his research and publication experience with the participants.
The one-week programme at Lingnan University offers a series of workshops on various research and methodological issues, as well as student presentations, field visits and social activities.
