Campus Sustainability
Environmental Policy
Lingnan University is committed to preserving the environment and to implementing the Government’s environmental improvement policies in the campus. The University takes all reasonable measures to achieve energy saving in its buildings, to conserve natural resources by good practices on waste management and to reduce its ecological footprint.
Sustainability Guidelines
In the pursuit of sustainability, the University promotes the following measures:
Energy Saving
- Use lighting sensors to control the lighting of outdoor areas of Main Campus
- Post up signage to encourage the Lingnan community to use staircases
- Use solar energy
- Adopt LED and solar-type lighting
- Participate in various energy saving activities

“Bring your own bottle” for Drinking Water
The filtered drinking fountains are provided around campus and in pantries of student hostels. The community is encouraged to bring their own bottles to refill drinking water at the filtered drinking fountains.

Collection of Recyclable Materials
Collection points for recyclable materials including plastic, PET 1, glass bottles, aluminum cans, paper, clothes and battery are widely scattered around campus.

Landscape Management
To bond with the nature, the landscape management team tries every best to maintain the trees and other plants in good shape and health. Colouring the campus vividly with natural plantations can enhance the comfortability and attractiveness of the campus.
Indoor Air Quality and Air-Conditioning Service
The temperature of the central air-conditioning services is set at about 24°C with the following operating hours for office areas:

Offices may request, with the endorsement of the Heads of Departments/Offices, extension of air-conditioning supply with justifications by completing and submitting the form “Application for Additional Air-conditioning Service” (form CO5018) to Campus Support Office for consideration with 4 working days in advance.
On site indoor air quality inspections are regularly carried out in order to monitor and improve, if necessary, the air quality.
Good Class IAQ Certificates were obtained in various buildings.
