Objective:
At the end of the event, students will be able to:
1. Learn interesting facts about Hong Kong plants and animals via arts and literature;
2. Gain insight into the creative process of an accomplished local writer and artist; and
3. Enhance awareness of and interest in Hong Kong wildlife.
Description:
Despite being known as one of the world’s most densely populated metropolitan, Hong Kong is blessed with a high diversity of interesting wildlife. Our speaker Ip Hiu man, a Lingnan alumna, is an accomplished writer and artist who often finds inspiration from our city’s country side. She will share with us the story behind some of her nature-inspired writing and arts.

Mass Extinction Events On Earth And Implications For Humanity (NEW)
Objective:
At the end of the event, students will be able to:
1. Understand the role geology plays in the society;
2. Recognise the cause of pollutions and global warming; and
3. Enhance the awareness of environmental protection.
Description:
The 4.6 billion years old Earth has experienced five mass extinctions due to natural cataclysmic events: (1) Ordovician Mass Extinction, (2) Devonian Mass Extinction, (3) Permian Mass Extinction, (4) Triassic-Jurassic Mass Extinction and (5) K-T Mass Extinction. What’s the dominated factors and results of these extinctions? How did the geologists reveal the Paleo-events?
Significantly, we are going through the 6th mass extinction, i.e. Man-made Mass Extinction Crisis, at modern times. How does it endanger the sustainable development of mankind? How can we reduce the harm of human activities to the earth?
